Professional Development for Educators

Are you looking for ways to motivate and engage your students, while supporting learning standards? Join professional artists from Arts Impact for workshops this summer. Our team will share tools and techniques to help you bring learning to life through art in your classroom.   

Workshops take place in-person at our studio space in Cleveland, cost $79 per person per session, and we’ll provide a certificate of completion for contact hours that attendees can submit to their districts for CEUs.

We are offering sessions for:
Classroom Teachers Grades 1-3
Art Teachers Grades K-12

For Classroom Teachers
Grades 1-3

Arts Integration is a powerful approach to teaching!   
Choose the sessions that most interest you. Come for just one workshop or stay for a full day. 
You do NOT have to be an artist to participate. You will leave with lessons, supply lists, and ideas you can use right away.  

Mixed Media Animal Tangrams: Math  

Monday, August 5th
9:00–11:30am

Design mixed media animal tangrams for hands-on learning in math. Learn how students can have fun representing and solving problems using addition and subtraction, reasoning with shapes and their attributes, and classifying objects.

Monday, August 5th
1:00–3:30pm

The basic needs of living things and how they interact with their environment are explored through art. Learn how to guide your students through a camouflage project and create classroom creatures that blend into the classroom “habitat.”

Abstract Character Design: ELA 

Tuesday, August 6th
9:00–11:30am

Learn how to use art to help students understand how characters are developed. This workshop will help you guide students through understanding how characters are depicted visually using lines, colors, and shapes to analyze and express feelings.

Spatial thinking, history, and geography are explored through the art of map-making. Use art supplies in fun and creative ways to create a map and symbols for familiar places in the school.

Stomp Out Bullying:

Wednesday, August 7th
9:00–11:30am

Arts Impact artist-educators, trained in integrating art with SEL, will share games and a hands-on project to teach students the importance of being an ally. This workshop will show educators how to use art to build empathy and inclusiveness within a classroom community.

Let’s Get To Know You!: SEL 

Wednesday, August 7th
1:00–3:30pm

Learn how to help students build connections with peers through a hands-on collaborative art project. The project celebrates students’ individuality as they get to know and appreciate the diversity of others.

Art teachers, connect with other professionals as you work with Arts Impact’s team. Get grounded and inspired for the start of the school year!

Creativity For Art Teachers: Printmaking 

Thursday, August 8th
9:00–11:30am

Unleash your creativity, share ideas, and have fun with other art teachers while you create your own mixed media collage using gelli plates, decorative paper, and other materials.

Creativity For Art Teachers: Bookmaking 

Thursday, August 8th
1:00–3:30pm

Unwind and get inspired as you recycle and reuse an old hardcover book to create your own art journal.  Learn bookmaking techniques and explore the creative process of journaling using bookmaking tools, recycled hardcover books, fabric, decorative paper, and other art supplies.
